You can help keep the Inverloch SES afloat by donating to theRescue Boat Appeal The Inverloch State Emergency Service has been providing emergency services to theresidents and visitors of Inverloch for 30 years, and during that time has assisted many people in times of need. The unit is entirely volunteer run and receives only small amounts of Government money for its operating costs, the rest must be raised from donations and fundraising. One of the essential roles of the Inverloch unit is the provision of marine rescue services within Andersons Inlet and over the Inverloch bar in Coastal Waters. The unit operates 2 vessels, one being the Ocean Rescue vessel which is over 30 years old and in desperate need of replacement. In 2005 the Inverloch SES received a grant from Marine Safety Victoria for the purchase of a new Ocean Rescue Vessel to replace it’s 30 year old Shark Cat. The Inverloch SES through the SES HQ has now placed an order for a 10m aluminum Stabicraft, manufactured in New Zealand and fitted out by MY Marine in Dromana. We are expecting the new vessel to be delivered and be in operation by July 2007. See below for images of our new rescue vessel. The total cost of the new vessel is over $235,000 and the Inverloch unit must raise over $60,000 to make the new vessel a reality. With the sale of our existing vessel, and fundraising so far we are close to achieving our Target and are only $8.000 short of our fundraising target. A new vessel has not only meant raising a lot of money but has meant that many ofour members have had to re-qualify and gain Commercial Coxswains Certificates, a process that requires hours of study and over 800 hours of sea time. Many hundreds of individuals have already donated to our appeal as well as community Organizations such as Rotary, Lions, Masons, CWA Branches and Bass Coast Shire Council. By donating to the Inverloch SES you can ensure that the unit is able to continue to provide much needed marine rescue services in Inverloch.
